Obituary of John C. Rudolph

John C. "Jack" Rudolph of Lafayette passed away peacefully November 12, 2013. He was 78. Generous, caring and considerate, Jack was a long-standing, well-known member of the Boulder area banking community, a man who remembered everyone's name, and could be found lunching with his long time friends and fishing buddies after his retirement. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov 19th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 715 Cabrini Drive, Lafayette with a reception following at the church. Jack was a family man, a loving, loyal father and husband. He and his wife Mary Jane knew each other all their lives, receiving first communion and attending their Senior Prom together. For nearly 58 years, they have been the love of each other's lives. Jack was born August 30, 1935 in Hammond Indiana, the son of John Joseph Rudolph and Dorothy Wright Rudolph. He was the eldest of six children and graduated from Hammond High School and served in the military for two years before heading to Indiana University where he earned a degree in Accounting. He married Mary Jane McLaughlin on February 9, 1957 in Hammond before they moved to Bloomington and started their family. In 1970 Jack moved his family to Boulder, where he loved the clean mountain air and open space. He accepted an offer as President of Boulder National Bank and he would go on to become a pillar of the community and make a name for himself as a fair and honest banker and business man. He served as President from 1970-1977 and later purchased and served as President of the Bank of Louisville and its branch, Boulder Valley National Bank from 1984-1995. He was deeply involved in the community, serving as president of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce, a board member at Avista Hospital and a long time member of the Boulder Rotary. He was also a big supporter of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, the Boy Scouts of America and last but not least the University of Colorado, where he had season tickets to the CU Football program since 1970. Jack loved being a father and shared his passion for the outdoors with his four children, teaching them how to ski, golf and fish, and fishing in Jack's later years became his favorite hobby and adventure. Jack loved the ocean and traveled frequently to Florida, California and Hawaii where he could snorkel and watch the cruise ships from the beach. Loyal friend, generous member of the community, devoted family man Jack was a true "Boulder classic". He is survived by his wife Mary Jane of Lafayette, two sons, Michael Rudolph of San Diego and Mark Rudolph of Lafayette, two daughters, Nancy Faulkner of Centennial and Lisa Fruehauf and her husband Todd of Niwot, two sisters, Peggy McLean of San Diego and Bonnie Rudolph of Laredo, Tex., and one brother, Joe Rudolph of San Diego, and five grandchildren, Chris Rudolph, Jason Faulkner, Jordan Faulkner, Caitlyn Fruehauf and Zach Fruehauf. Memorial contributions may be made to Tru Community Hospice Care, 2594 Trailridge Dr., Lafayette, CO 80026 or to the University of Colorado Foundation at cufund.org, using a downloadable form.
