Obituary of Robert Reichstein

Robert Aimel Reichstein passed away peacefully on Nov. 4, 2013 in Boulder. He was 87. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 at the First Methodist Church, 1421 Spruce St. in Boulder. A salesman for most of his working life, he was a people person, very outgoing, friendly and upbeat. He loved his family and especially loved being a grandfather. Robert was born on Nov. 28, 1925 to Eddie Earl Reichstein and Stella Corrigan Reichstein in Kearney, Neb. He graduated from Kearney High School. He married Lillian Elizabeth Nordeen on Jan. 15, 1950 in Boulder. Robert served in the U.S. Navy for three years, working as a ship welder in the Admiralty Islands and New Guinea during World War II. In recent years, he enjoyed flying to Washington, D.C. with Honor Flight. He worked for many years at Boulder Candy and Tobacco and later was part owner of Cen Tex Supply. Robert was very involved in the community through Boulder Masonic Lodge #45, Boulder Eastern Star, Boulder Elks #566 and Boulder American Legion. He was especially engaged in many activities with the El Jebel Shrine and often drove cars in parades with The Classics. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and golf, which he took up with great enthusiasm later in life. He is survived by his sister Mercedes Peebles; son Ed Reichstein and his wife Beth Arnold-Reichstein of Louisville; his daughter Kristi Sheesley and her husband Scott Sheesley of Longmont; and three grandchildren, Robert Sheesley, Calan Reichstein and Megan Reichstein. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Reichstein in 1996. Memorial contributions may be made to TRU Community Care, 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Lafayette, CO 80026, or trucare.org, and Shriners Hospitals for Children at shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
