Dear Meg, Matthew, and Peter,
I met your mother years ago when she came into the counseling office at Platt Middle School to visit with me about one of you..I think it was about one of your classes, Meg. I was a very young school counselor at the time and she was the mom of one of our top students. Needless to say, I was a bit nervous! Although I can't remember the class we talked about, I do remember your mom. She was incredibly warm with a laugh that put me immediately at ease. I knew right away that this was a very special woman. We bumped into each over the years and I clearly remember each time. She was a wonderful listener and was always curious about me in a way that made me feel cared about.
A few years ago at the Y she told me about a Pilates class. "You must go!" So I went and we were in class together for a long time. I felt lucky to have a chance to visit with her before class as she always had a crowd around her. I knew her spot and missed her when she wasn't there.
When I last saw her at Morningside she talked about all of you and wondered about my husband's knees.
I think that the world is never quite the same again when you lose a parent.
Please accept my deepest condolences.
