Capt Branch was well received to the USS Orion AS-18. I did not know him on a personal level since I worked on the pier along side the Orion in Port Services Division back in 1982-1984 at Santo Stefeno Island, Italy. I did see him quite a few times when he needed transportation on our transport LCM crafts to the shores of LaMaddelena or Palau. Plenty of good things were said about him. My condolences and prayers go to the families of the late Capt. Branch Jr..
