Obituary of Stephanie Rose Nelson

Stephanie Rose Nelson passed away from natural causes at Mesa Vista of Boulder on March 4th, 2018. She was 85.

Born September 14th, 1932 in Cozad, NE to parents Ralph Morrow Allen and Marjorie (née Currant) Allen, Stephanie grew up in the city of her birth and stayed in Nebraska for college. She attended the University of Nebraska (Lincoln, NE), earning her B.S. in Nutrition and Home Economics. After doing so, Stephanie worked as a dietician in Houston, TX and Cozad. On October 9th, 1955, she married William C. Nelson. The couple soon relocated to Boulder, hoping to find a beautiful mountain community, a college town and a great place to raise a family. Mission accomplished. Once settled, Stephanie went to work as a nutritional consultant to various doctors in the Boulder area. As the Nelson family grew, Stephanie focused on her number one passion, family, and set about becoming an outstanding homemaker. She also loved bridge, was an accomplished player, and in 1981 earned recognition as a Grand Life Master at Bridge. Despite living most of her life in Buff territory, Stephanie maintained a lifelong devotion to her cherished Cornhuskers.

Stephanie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William, who died in Boulder on March 5th, 2017, 364 days before his loving wife. She is survived by her daughter, Joy Zane (husband, Kelly), of Hickory Creek, TX; her son, Mark Nelson, of Stillwater, NY; her brother, Tandy Allen, of Mission Hills, KS; her grandson, Ben Nelson, of Ballston Spa, NY. As well, Stephanie leaves behind many dear friends whom she treasured so greatly.

The family will hold a graveside service on Saturday, June 9th, 11:00 AM at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Ave., Boulder, CO 80301.

The Nelson family thanks you for your kind thoughts and sympathies. Stephanie was a wonderful wife, mom, and friend.  She will be missed dearly.
