Obituary of Loretta Elizabeth Hinds

Loretta Elizabeth Hinds of Denver, 83, died unexpectedly Wed. December 27th, 2017.

Loretta was the middle daughter of Cyril W. McLaughlin and Vera (Spillar) McLaughlin, born June 14, 1934. Her parents, and older sister Grace Kish, and younger sister Carol Waddell all proceeded her in death.

 

She grew up in New York and her family  moved to South Florida, where she finished school at Miami Senior High School, Class of 1952. She was active with several extracurricular activities in several groups while attending commercial art classes at night. Loretta went on to get her Bachelor's Degree from Florida State University in 1957. She married Charles Raymond Deal and had her 2 boys. Loretta later divorced, and remarried Justin Earl Hinds and had her daughter. She divorced again, and with great courage, she relocated to Colorado with her three children in 1970.

 

Her early work was in sales. She found her passion in financial planning and made a career that lasted over 40 years.

 

Loretta continued to enjoy her passions in art, museum exhibits, thrift stores, botanic gardens, genealogy, and graphoanalysis, and she loved the outdoors. She was an active volunteer with Outdoor Colorado, Her children remember many a cross country ski trip on holidays. She was a couturier seamstress her entire life, and she loved sewing "projects". She always had Colorado Public Radio turned on. 

 

Loretta engaged in a lifelong study of Oriental Medicine and helped convert many folks to her way of thinking.

 

Loretta participated in intellectual groups that had networking discussion groups, such as OLLI and Great Decisions, and was active with her local Lowry CSA group.

 

She is survived by her sons, Charles R Dea,l Jr., of Todos Santos, Mexico, James M. Deal of Boulder, CO; daughter Kathy (Jim) Burger of Longmont, CO; grandson Ty J. Burger, Pvt. US Army; several nieces; and a nephew.

 

A Celebration of Loretta's Life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 24th at First Universalist Church, 4101 E. Hampden Avenue, Denver, CO 80222.
