So sorry to read about the death of
Your love one. May the God of all comfort be with you during this time of grief. As you reflect on the
Wonderful time you shared together
May it bring you comfort. The Bible promises to be with those broken at heart and crushed in spirit because he cares. (Psalms 34 : 18 )

Bill,
I heard the news this morning from Brad Carson.
I'm profoundly sorry for your loss. We have not kept in touch in a long time, but you will always remain like a brother to me.
I have had a lot of loss in my immediate family due to cancer, and I can only imagine what this time must be like for you.
If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.
Also, at some point when you you are up to it, I'd love to reconnect with you.
My cell is 843-847-7812, and my personal email is jeff.tapp159@gmail.com
I sincerely hope you find peace and comfort in this tragic time.
Very Truly Yours,
Jeff

I grew up in the same neighborhood as the Whites; Wendy, Jenny and their parents, Gordi and Terri. Jenny and Wendy were the “pretty older girls” but that was okay because they had killer board games, so my brother and I made every excuse to find our way to their house to play. Of course they weren’t as interested in playing with the little boys, but still paid us a little attention from time to time.
We moved and the two girls were soon lost from memory. It wasn’t until high school that Gordi came to visit my father and brought his youngest daughter, Jenny. It was a high school romance movie (shot in super slow motion) memory for me. Jenny was a vision of poise and beauty and I was hopelessly smitten! I might have shared a few awkward words with her; I honestly can’t remember. The rest of the day was a wonderful blur.
After describing her to my friends, they quickly convinced me to “make a move”. I was terribly shy with girls, but she seemed worth the risk so I decided to give it a shot. Problem is I couldn’t remember if it was Wendy or Jenny that came out to visit. Rather than ask, I flipped a coin then gave Wendy a call to ask her out on a date. She awkwardly but gently let me know she already had a boyfriend… and didn’t have a clue who I was. I was confused but surprisingly emboldened by my teenage hormones and continued to work out the situation. We both finally figured out I had the wrong “pretty older girl” and she gave me Jenny’s number.
Jenny and I did end up going out on a couple dates, but she was clearly out of my league and the relationship stalled. Again, Jenny was lost from memory, but it did take a while. Hard to let go of that first crush! But my path with the Whites was destined to cross again.
Gordi and I ended up spending time working together. I got to know and admire him not just as the dad of the two prettiest girls in the neighborhood, but as a man of great wisdom, humor and character; someone I wanted to emulate.
I only saw Jenny a couple times. We’d exchange pleasantries, chuckle remembering our dating stint, and go on our own ways. And I’d feel a little stir; traces of a teenage crush that even time and distance cannot fully erase.
Hearing about her fight mainly through Gordi and Terri was an emotional roller-coaster for all of us. Gordi and Terri joined us for lunch a few weeks ago and shared some of the heartbreaking and inspiring stories of what turned out to be Jenny’s last days. Words cannot convey.
In all her days, in all her circumstances, Jenny was truly a vision poise and beauty!
