Obituary of Amanda Jean Fadum Hall
Amanda Jean Fadum Hall died at age 21 on May 6, 2017, at University Hospital due to complications from an earlier suicide attempt caused by her battle with bi-polar disorder.
Amanda was born on Halloween 1995 in Boulder to Karine Jean Fadum and Matthew Hall. She was the beloved granddaughter of Rhonda and Ole Fadum of Boulder, Colorado and Joan and Bob Siteman of Hyannis, Massachusetts; and the niece of Elisa Fadum-Montoya and Andrew Montoya of Thornton, Colorado. She was a fifth-generation Coloradan.
Amanda identified as an artist, scholar and suicide survivor. She attended Bear Creek Elementary School in Boulder until the death of her mother in third grade. She then moved to Hyannis, Massachusetts where she lived with her Dad and grandparents Noni and Pops. She graduated with honors from Cape Cod Community College where she won the coveted Commonwealth Scholar award. She recently graduated with honors in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She worked in graphic design and administration at the School of Public Policy at UMassAmherst, a job she loved.
Amanda was proud of the graphic arts company she created to showcase her personal artwork. Her design entitled “Pop Bottles” was published in Take Magazine in 2016. A favorite print of Amanda’s was featured on the cover of a well known digital art magazine in April 2017. Amanda loved grunge music and wrote entertainment critiques for a university publication. She loved the holidays of Halloween and Easter. A quote from Winston Churchill describes Amanda’s challenges and fortitude: “When you’re going through hell, keep on going.”
Amanda was preceded in death by her mother Karine Jean Fadum. She is survived by her “comfort” cat Lilli, father Matt, aunt Elisa, grandparents, uncles and cousins: Kristian, Kaeden, Cassidy and Rory. She was blessed with four generous and loving Godmothers: Jean, Kelly, Karen and Libby.
Dear Amanda, our hearts are broken. We will remember you in our hearts, our thoughts, and in the memories of the times we lived together. You will be buried beside your mother at Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder at a private family ceremony.
A celebration of Amanda’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 21, at First Congregational Church, 1128 Pine St., Boulder, with a reception to follow. A future memorial service will be held in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
