A private family burial with be held in Sullivan, Illinois. Betty was born September 28, 1935 in Sullivan, Illinois to Paul Everett and Gertrude Louise (Shirey) Dixon. She graduated with a B.S. in Education from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. Betty received her hospital technician certification from Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Illinois. She married Lloyd J. Hendricks in 1961 in Pana, Illinois. Betty has been living in Louisville since 1983; prior to that she was a resident of Boulder. Betty was a Laboratory Technician at Boulder Community Hospital for over 40 years. "Betty was an integral part of her neighborhood. People came together with and around her. Anyone who became part of Betty's circle (there were no requirements to get in - just show up) gained far more from Betty than they could have imagined. She was the neighborhood cooking expert, and all questions were answered swiftly and decisively. Betty was famous for her garden parties, where she invited the entire neighborhood to wander her beautiful back yard garden and partake of wonderful themed goodies, while she presided like a matriarch over the proceedings. Betty was a huge fan of cooking programs and cooking herself. If you were lucky, she taught you something that you will never forget. Betty? Thank you for the fresh nutmeg. Betty knew more about the art of cooking than any of us, and was eager and happy to share her knowledge. Betty was tough, funny and wore her love of small dogs, guinea pigs and her neighbors on her sleeve. Mostly, Betty fit beautifully into the community that was her neighborhood, and contributed as much as she received from that association." Betty is survived by her sister Deanna (Richard) Dubs of Forsyth, Illinois. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd J. Hendricks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boulder Community Hospital Foundation, P.O.
