Obituary of Sandra Mittelman

Sandra Giovanna "Sandi" Mittelman, 41, of Superior, passed peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Avista Adventist Hospital in Louisville. She was surrounded by family and friends. A Celebration of Sandi's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St, Boulder. Sandi was born on August 30, 1971 in California to Jack and Frances Purdy. She attended high school in San Ramon, California. Sandi married Michael Mittelman in Lafayette, California on July 9, 1995. They moved to Superior, Colorado from the Bay Area. Together, Michael and Sandi have 3 amazing children: Spencer, Chloe and Luke. Sandi's favorite saying was "Friends are the family you choose". She chose wisely and often as evidenced by the outpouring of love and help from this wonderful community. Sandi loved this country and what it stood for. Her love of all things political guided her. She graduated from San Jose State University with a Major in Political Science and a Minor in Women's Studies. She has used this passion all her life to work on campaigns and continue to be a strong proponent of our democratic process. Though politics were her hobby, her children were her life. She was the most dedicated mother I have ever known. Her family and friends were the most important thing she knew. She was a best friend for the ages and will be missed. Sandi was preceded in death by her parents. Sandi is survived by her husband Michael of Superior, CO; sons Spencer and Luke of Superior, CO; daughter Chloe of Superior, CO.
