Obituary of Susie G. Chacon

Susie G. Chacon, 80, a long-time resident of Boulder, died at home on Thursday, February 12, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 715 Cabrini Dr, Lafayette, on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. The Mass will be followed by a reception at the church. Burial will take place at at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave, Denver 80236. Susie was born February 13th, 1934 in Erie and graduated from Erie High School in 1952. After graduation, Susie moved to San Francisco working at such interesting companies as Esquire Magazine and Joseph Magnin Company. She met the love of her life, Ralph, in San Francisco, May of 1962 and they married February 5th of 1966. Family was very important to Suzie and in addition to raising two sons and having one step son, she sponsored eight of her cousins for United States Citizenship. She was also very active in the Boulder and Longmont communities sponsoring children's athletic programs, Jose Cuervo Volleyball tournament, United Way campaigns, and even sponsoring the first Chili Cook-off at the Harvest House and a board member at the Women's Safe House. Susie was also a business woman, co-founding the Senior Miguel Restaurant with her husband Ralph, brothers and sisters. In addition, her interest in the Latino community lead to her writing articles in the Boulder Daily Camera on issues facing Latino women. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Chacon and sons, Pierre (Laurie) Chacon of Frederick, CO, Andre Chacon of Boulder and step son, Ralph Chacon, Jr. of Salt Lake City, UT. She is also survived by her brothers Joe (Sandy) Gomez of Boulder and Mike (Lydia) Gomez of Arvada, CO; her sisters Julia Monares of Arvada, CO, Emma Gomez Martinez of Arvada, CO and Lucy (Manuel) Hernandez of Colorado Springs; grandchildren, Arthur Chacon of Salt Lake, UT, Raquel Chacon of Salt Lake, CO, Brandon Chacon of Salt Lake, UT, Quinton Trainer of Niwot, CO, Ryan Chacon of Frederik, CO, and Raven Chacon of Lafayette, CO; and Granddaughter Jullian Rain Chacon-Murphy of Longmont, CO.
