Obituary of Richard Ellis Hopper

Richard Ellis Hopper, 88, died November 8, 2014, at Balfour Retirement Center, Louisville. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Boulder, 1820 15th St, on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at 2:00 pm. Dick was born September 30, 1926, in Holdredge, Nebraska to Ellis Glen and Frances C. Hopper. He grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado, graduating early to join the Army Air Corps during WWII. Dick attended the University of Colorado, graduating with a business degree. He worked for US Gypsum Company in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where he met Shirley Ann Malfeld. Dick and Shirley were married in 1952 and returned to Colorado. He was a salesman in the car business in Denver, Boulder, and Fort Morgan, Colorado until 1967, when he became a stock broker and went to work for Boettcher & Co in their Boulder office until he retired in 1992. Shirley died in 1980. In 1982 Dick married Marion Haddock. Dick was a member of ATO fraternity, the Boulder Jaycees, First Presbyterian Church and Boulder Country Club. Dick put his trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for his salvation, in Whom he expressed his faith even in his final days. He is survived by his wife, Marion, his children, Christy Hopper and Richard E. “Buck” Hopper, Jr. (Connie), his step-children, Kathleen Haddock and Stephen Haddock (Lani), 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
