Obituary of Billie Jean Hall

Billie Jean Hall of Boulder, Colorado passed away September 25, 2014 at the age or 65, after a forty year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born September 1, 1949 in Canon City to Kinney and Dorothy Callaway. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 9, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas, 904 14th St. Boulder, CO 80302; and 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 10, 2014 at Mountain View Community Church, 200 justice Center Road, Canon City. As a member of one of the pioneer families of Fremont County, Billie grew up ranching and farming. Her love of horseback riding began at an early age and lasted throughout her life. As a young woman, Billie loved to barrel race in gymkhanas and rodeos, and even after she was diagnosed with MS, she continued to ride anytime someone would help her into a saddle. Billie Jean loved to be a part of life. She endured incredible difficulties and persevered with happiness and joy. She loved her family and loved to study her family’s history. She was proud of her country and was politically active for years. She was also an active member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Boulder. She loved to study and to learn, and one of her final requests was that she be remembered as a scientist. Billie jean is survived by her brothers, Lee (Kristin) Hall of Hudson’s Hope, British Colombia; Scott (Susan) Hall of Wetmore, CO; Mark (Julie) Hall of Penrose, CO; and sisters Kathy Hall of Arizona, and Gale (David) Rooks of Penrose, CO, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Raymond Wade (Chip) Hall; her sister Sally Elaine (Hall) Kruse, as well as her sons Andy and Paul Lemmon.
