Our condolences to Tim, Austin, Susanne & Rick Uncle Howard & Aunt Thelma were very special. Always enjoyed visiting them in Boulder and always looked forward to them visiting our farm in Montana. Howard was very generous and gave some special parts to son John for his 59 Stude and gave us lots of information for our Studebaker collection. Howard took such good care of Thelma. Now they are together. Our family has many fond memories of them. I am not too good with this email stuff but I hope you all will keep in touch. God bless Art & Nell Mangels Glen Mt.

I'm am so sorry to hear of Howard's passing! We had a friendship built around old Studebakers. Howard always welcomed me to his home, and we would talk for hours about Studebakers. Howard was my "go to guy" when it came to parts and information about Studebakers. He sold me his green mist metallic 1963 Studebaker Wagonaire Daytona January 17, 2013. When I bought it, I had him write a story about the wagon's history- like how he learned to drive on a Studebaker in Colorado Springs where he was born and the blown out tire with a load of 200 pounds of potatoes from Montana. I have those stories and photos of Howard standing next to the Wagonaire hanging on my garage wall.
I have been restoring the '63 green mist metallic Wagonire. I've done the body work and have painted it myself. I'm presently putting in new green carpet and NOS seat covers. I rebuilt the carburator and got it running smooth. I was hoping to get it finished up this spring and bring it over to Howard and surprise him with it. I'm sorry that can't happen.
I'll miss Howard! He was a good man, and I still had a ton of Studebaker questions to ask him!

Dear Tim, Susanne and Austin - We're so sorry for your loss. We will always remember Howard for his kindness. When people speak of role models there aren't many who can compare to him and his devotion to Thelma. We can only imagine how happy he must be now that he is with her again. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Kathy & Randy
