Obituary of Jason Buehler

From creating and sipping award winning beer to climbing Fourteeners, Jason loved adventure. He passed away November 6, 2020 from injuries suffered in Colorado’s Maroon Bells while hiking the Traverse between Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak. Born October 25, 1977 to Jim and Judy Buehler in Holmes County, Ohio, Jason attended West Holmes County High School in Millersburg, OH. He graduated from Miami University, Oxford, OH, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. At Miami, he met Leanne Masden whom he would marry on June 21, 2003. He and Leanne lived in Chicago, IL. Before moving to Colorado Springs and eventually Niwot, CO. Children Ellie, Clive and Otto rounded out their family. Jason always put family first as a loving husband and father. He loved coaching baseball, telling dad jokes and camping, hiking and playing games as a family. As a member of the Brewer’s Association and head brewer for Denver Beer Company, Jason earned 10 medals from the Great American Beer Festival, not to mention other awards from around the world. Through his passion for brewing, Jason and the family enjoyed many travels in the US and abroad. The culture and friendship he experienced in Mexico, while creating beers and brewing for Cerveceria Colorado, were some of what he and the family most treasured. Jason will be remembered for the adventure and magnetic zest he brought to life. This summer, he climbed 20 of Colorado’s Fourteeners. He believed the purpose of life was to experience the wonder and joy of every day – from nature, to beer, to his family, children and many friends around the world – all the while living every moment. His family says he would want us all to raise a glass in celebration of his life, to hug one another, laugh and dance. Jason, we miss you terribly and will never forget the light and love you brought to each of us. Jason is survived by his wife Leanne, children Ellie (age 11) Clive (age 9) and Otto (age 7) of Niwot, CO, sister Kim Iquina (Westerville, OH) and parents Jim and Judy Buehler (Reynoldsburg, OH). He was preceded in death by his, paternal grandparents Walter and Doris Buehler (Fremont, OH) and Eleanor and Henry Bejcek (Cleveland, OH). A private family service will be held at this time. Information about a public celebration of Jason’s life will be shared after COVID.
